Bansko is the best ski resort in Bulgaria with the longest ski runs, excellent facilities and the richest cultural history. The town of Bansko is situated at the foot of the Pirin mountain in the south-western Bulgaria, 160 km from Sofia and 6 km from the town of Razlog. It lies on the banks of the Glazne river at the foot of the Pirin mountains, right below the highest and most beautiful part of it. The Pirin mountains have a predominantly Alpine character. The highest peak is Vihren (2914 m). The town is situated at an altitude of 925 m and ski area at 2000 - 2600m.
The resort offers excellent ski and snowboard conditions and infrastructure.
The Bansko mountain resort is an excellent choice for ski and snowboard holiday in Bulgaria offering something for all age groups and abilities and hosted the 2012 world downhill ski championships.
Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 December - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts.  It has had large investment programmes over recent years to improve resort infrastructure and local facilities.  With further developments planned.
Equally attractive in all four seasons, Bansko provides an interesting combination of natural beauty mixed with the unique architecture, and atmosphere of an ancient historic Bulgarian town.
Apres ski - the resort offers hundreds of bars and traditional restaurants called 'mehana'.
